NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action on Saturday afternoon as they rolled to a 15-4 win at New Paltz.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Following nearly seven minutes of scoreless play, the Knights offense exploded for eight unanswered goals in the next 18 minutes. Senior attacker Kevin Cook netted three straight goals to close out a 5-0 first quarter.
• Cook added his fourth goal of the game early in the second quarter, while Christian Marcello, Jr. added two of his own to make it an 8-0 advantage. Senior midfielder Sean Byrne ended the impressive first half of action by scoring a goal with six seconds remaining.
• The Knights carried that momentum into the third quarter and shutout the Hawks while tacking on four more goals to make it an 11-goal lead. Geneseo went on to cruise to the 15-4 win.

QUICK FACTS

• Cook, Byrne, and Marcello, Jr. all tallied four points to lead the Knights offensively, while senior midfielder Drew Ligouri chipped in three points on two goals and one assist.
• Junior Mark Pav got the start and win in goal while first-year Brodie Sullivan played 15 minutes to combine with Pav for nine saves.
• In the Knights last three wins, the defense has only allowed eight goals. With Geneseo's 8-2 win at Oneonta they are only giving up three goals per game in SUNYAC action.
