GENESEO, NY: The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team came out on top over Alfred in the Empire 8 first round, winning 15-5. The Knights extend their win streak to five, moving to 12-5 overall as they head to the semifinals on Thursday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Alfred tallied two early goals in the first, but it didn't deter the Knights, going on a three-goal streak led off by Ronnie Trebing at 8:00. Ryan Trebing and Ian Leahey added two more to give Geneseo the 3-2 lead.
- The Knights went on a rampage in the second quarter, posting seven more goals against The Saxons. Ryan Trebing added four more in four minutes to make it 7-2, followed by Aksel Stanat, Jacob Pensabene and Leahey to give the Knights a 10-4 lead at halftime.
- Leahey tallied his third hattrick of the year to kick things off in the second half. Geneseo kept Alfred off the board while adding four goals, making it 14-4 with a quarter left to play. The fourth only one goal score from each team and the Knights secured the 15-5 win against Alfred.
QUICK FACTS:
- Ryan Trebing had a career high eight points against Alfred, scoring five goals and three assists.
- Josh Knapp led the Knights with six ground balls, totaling 45 this season.
- Ben Bradshaw collected his 12th win in net, making 10 saves for a .667 SV%.
