Box Score 2 PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior pitcher Mattie Woodard earned two saves, shutting down the Cardinals bats in relief in both games as the Knights swept their State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) rival, Plattsburgh, on Tuesday.
GAME ONE - GENESEO 10, Plattsburgh 2
- Taylor Riccardi opened the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the first. The Knights added three runs in the fourth inning when Leah VanDerwarker hit an RBI single and Rebecca Schwartz followed with a two-run triple to make it 4-0.
- Plattsburgh cut the lead in half with two runs in the fifth, but Geneseo answered with three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to take a 10-2 lead.
- Lauren Kersch allowed two earned runs on five hits over four innings while Mattie Woodard allowed just three hits over the final three innings to earn the save.
GAME TWO - GENESEO 7, Plattsburgh 4
- Plattsburgh took the lead in the first with a run, but the Knights tied the game in the top of the third, scoring on a Cardinals error.
- The hosts regained a one-run lead, capitalizing on a pair of Geneseo errors to score a run in the bottom of the fourth.
- In the top of the fifth, Riccardi ripped a two run single and Iris Kahris followed with an RBI single. The Knights added another run on a Plattsburgh error to make it 5-2.
- In the sixth, Schwartz drove in another run with an RBI double to extend the advantage to 6-2, but the Cardinals scored two in the bottom of the frame to make it 6-4.
- Kersch provided an insurance run with a pinch-hit RBI single, extending the lead to 7-4, and Woodard slammed the door with three outs in the seventh to earn her fourth save of the season.

- The Knights have won 12-straight games, the team's longest winning streak since 2015 and the fourth-longest winning streak in program history. Geneseo won 23-straight games in 2002 when the team finished 36-5 overall.
- Schwartz and Samantha Martz each finished 4-for-4 in game one. Schwartz finished a home run shy of the cycle. Schwartz finished the day with five hits, two runs and five RBI while Martz had six hits, four runs and an RBI.
- Lauren Kersch moved to 7-0 in the circle while Kaitlyn Schmitz earned her second pitching win of the year. Woodard moves into a tie for second in NCAA Division III with four saves, while her 0.90 ERA ranks 18th.
- Geneseo has recorded 10 or more hits in its last five games, outscoring opponents, 48-9, over that span.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Knights' doubleheader originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 13 against RIT has been postponed. Instead, Geneseo will host Oneonta on Friday for a twinbill at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.
