GENESEO, N.Y. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its All-Region teams on Friday, May 15, and SUNY Geneseo had two student-athletes take home honors.
Brooke Fraas was named the Region III First-Team shortstop, while
Gabriella Petroski earned Second-Team honors as a pitcher.
Fraas led the team at the plate on the season, posting a .430 batting average with 61 hits and 23 RBIs. She set the program record for career runs scored this season, and tallied 22 stolen bases in her senior campaign. As the Knights starting shortstop, Fraas recorded a .931 fielding percentage and earned First-Team All-Conference honors.
Petroski was also named the Empire 8 Pitcher of the Year after finishing the season with a 16-4 overall record, 2.92 earned run average and 1.17 WHIP to go along with 121 strikeouts in 124 2/3 innings pitched. Petroski was an incredible 12-1 in league play with a 1.77 earned run average, 0.94 WHIP, 11 complete games and 91 strikeouts in 79 innings. Petroski threw a no-hitter with a career-high 16 strikeouts Elmira on April 23.Â
