Box Score 2 POTSDAM, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo Softball team barrelled up a combined 24 hits as they swept host Potsdam in a two-game series on Monday afternoon.
GAME ONE - GENESEO 7, Potsdam 1
- Senior Taylor Riccardi hit an RBI single in the first inning to open the scoring as sophomore pitcher Lauren Kersch shut down the Potsdam bats over the first four innings.
- In the fourth, the Knights added a pair of runs to make it 3-0, and tacked on three more in the fifth, extending the lead to 6-0.
- First-year Kaitlyn Schmitz added an RBI single in the sixth to make it 7-0. The Bears scored their only run of the day in the bottom of the sixth, but it wasn't enough to catch the Knights.
- Kersch improved to 6-0 from the circle with four shutout innings without allowing a hit. Mattie Woodard earned a three-inning save, ringing up four strikeouts.
GAME TWO - GENESEO 12, Potsdam 0 (5 Inn.)
- Junior Elizabeth Eberhardt allowed just three hits and two walks over five innings, striking out seven Bears to improve to 3-1 on the year.
- Sophomore Lauren Gulick ripped an RBI double in the first inning as the Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead.
- Junior Olivia Fazio drove in a run in the third and sophomore Rebecca Schwartz added an RBI triple in the fourth as Geneseo moved ahead, 5-0.
- First-year Hannah Olejniczak and junior Iris Kahris each added a pair of RBI as the Knights played 12 runs on 11 hits to earn the win in five innings.

- The Knights' pitching staff allowed just one earned run in 12 innings, and improved its team ERA to 0.90 with just 16 earned runs in 18 games. Kersch ranks fourth in NCAA Division III with a 0.36 ERA while Eberhardt ranks 11th (0.79) and Woodard ranks 27th (1.00). Senior Mattie Klein also owns a 0.66 ERA while first-year Kaitlyn Schmitz sits at 1.24 and Sydney Bolton at 3.00.
- The Geneseo defense did not commit an error in either game, the first time this season the squad has strung together back-to-back games without an error.
- Junior Olivia Fazio finished with a team-high four hits and two RBI across the two games while Schwartz and Schmitz each had three hits.

The Knights (18-2, 4-0 SUNYAC) will travel even further North to face Plattsburgh for a doubleheader on Tuesday, with game one beginning at 3:00 p.m.
