Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team couldn't pick up its first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon as they fell at St. Lawrence, 20-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights got off to a slow start as they trailed 4-0 through the first eight minutes of the opening quarter, but the defense was able to stop the offensive momentum from the Saints to only allow two more goals for the remainder of the first half.
- On the offensive end, senior midfielder Drew Liguori got the scoring started with an unassisted goal in the second quarter. Geneseo entered the second half facing a five-goal deficit.
- St. Lawrence took control of the game in the second half and didn't leave any room for a comeback attempt after scoring seven unanswered goal between the end of the third quarter and start of the fourth.
QUICK FACTS
- Ligouri and first-year attacker Riley Hendselder led the Knights with two points each. Hendselder posted a team-high two goals while Ligouri added one goal and one assist.
- The Knights held an advantage over St. Lawrence in faceoffs as seniors Ryan Lee and Tommy Devito combined to go 17-30 on faceoff attempts. They both tallied a team-high five ground balls.
- Junior goalkeeper Mark Pav recorded 10 saves in the loss.
