GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team couldn't pull off the comeback win against No. 12 St. John Fisher on Wedensday night as they fell, 12-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Knights got off to a slow start as the Cardinals scored the first four goals of the game. With 3:25 left in the first quarter, Chris Martello put Geneseo on the board and made it a 4-1 game heading to the second quarter.
• Early in the second quarter Tommy Rohan was able to keep it a three-goal game with a goal off an assist from Liam Thompson. St. John Fisher was able to net three unanswered goals before halftime though to extend the lead to 8-2.
• Geneseo was able to outscore St. John Fisher in the second half, and had cut the lead to four goals at 11-7 with under four minutes left to play. Needing a turnover, the Knights surrendered an open net goal late in the game to ultimately fall 12-7.

QUICK FACTS

• Drew Ligouri was the only Geneseo player to net more than one goal with two, and was the only Knight to record two points. Trevor Bollinger tallied a team-high six ground balls.
• Junior goalkeeper Mark Pav played all 60 minutes in goal and registered 12 saves.
• The five-goal margin of victory marks the largest in the last eight matchups, with Geneseo winning in 2016 and 2018 by one goal.

Geneseo will travel to New Paltz on Saturday, April 2 at 1 p.m. as they look to improve to 2-0 in SUNYAC play.
