ALFRED, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team got back in the win column Wednesday afternoon as they traveled to Alfred and earned an impressive 16-2 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• First-year attacker Jimmy Atkinson got the Knights offense rolling early on by scoring two goals in the opening quarter. Geneseo led 4-0 following the first 15 minutes of play.
• The Knights offense didn't let up in the second quarter as they tacked on six more goals against the Saxons. Senior midfielder Drew Liguori led the offensive efforts in the second quarter with two goals.
• Alfred slowed down Geneseo's offense in the second half, holding them to just six goals in the final 30 minutes. The Knights defense didn't allow any momentum towards a comeback though as they only allowed two goals in the game.

QUICK FACTS

• Atkinson led the offense with four goals and three assists. Liguori chipped in four goals of his own, while junior attacker Christian Marcello, Jr. put up a team-high four assists.
• Junior goalkeeper Mark Pav got the start in goal and earned the win with 10 saves on 12 shots faced. First-year goalkeeper Brodie Sullivan added two saves in eight minutes.
• Geneseo dominated faceoffs, winning 14 out of 19 with senior Tommy Devito leading the way with seven out of eight.

The Knights will open up SUNYAC play this weekend when they travel to Oneonta on Saturday at 1 p.m.
