Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team finished off their spring break trip with a tough matchup at top-ranked Salisbury, where they fell 18-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights defense held strong early and kept the Sea Gulls off the scoreboard for the first five minutes of the game. Salisbury was eventually able to break through and score four unanswered, but an unassisted goal from senior midfielder Sean Byrne with fifty seconds left gave the Knights a little momentum heading into the second quarter.
- Geneseo quickly capitalized on the momentum as sophomore attacker Robert Boneillo scored just 21 seconds into the second frame to cut the deficit to two goals. Drew Liguori and Christian Marcello, Jr. also scored in the second quarter, but the Sea Gulls netted eight of their own to take control of the game.
- The Knights were unable to find the firepower to mount a comeback in the second half, and ultimately fell 18-7.
QUICK FACTS
- Marcello, Jr. and Boneillo led the Geneseo attack with two goals each, while junior attacker Tim Brockwell chipped in two assists.
- Junior goalkeeper Mark Pav played all 60 minutes in goal and tallied 14 saves.
- The Knights came out on top in faceoffs, winning 16 of 28 attempts. Senior Ryan Lee led the way by winning 11 of his 17 attempts.
