CLERMONT, Fla. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore pitcher Lauren Kersch led the Knights to a 2-1 victory over Babson while sophomore pitcher Sydney Bolton and senior pitcher Mattie Klein combined for a 12-4 win over UNE to complete a two-game sweep.

GAME ONE - Geneseo 2, Babson 1 (9 Inn.)

• The Knights were limited to just three hits, and were shutout for the first eight innings as the Babson pitcher rung up 10 strikeouts. 
• Kersch battled back, scattering five hits and stranding six runners. The Beavers scored in the ninth as the international tiebreaker runner on second to begin the inning came around to score on an RBI single. On the next play, Babson ripped a ball to the fence but center-fielder Leah VanDerwarker and shortstop Olivia Fazio connected on a great relay to cut down the runner at the plate, limiting the Beavers to just one run in the ninth. 
• In the bottom of the ninth, first-year Kaitlyn Schmitz laid down a sacrifice bunt, reached on an error and stole second base. The Knights' tying run scored on a Babson error and left Schmitz in scoring position as the winning run. Kersch ripped a single through the right side and Schmitz beat the throw to the plate to give Geneseo a walk-off 2-1 victory in nine innings. 

GAME TWO - Geneseo 12, UNE 4 

• Geneseo jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first when junior Lauren Gulick ripped an RBI double to left-center. UNE responded with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, but sophomore pitcher Sydney Bolton settled in, allowing just three earned runs on five hits and one walk in four innings to earn the win from the circle. 
• The Knights plated a run in the top of the second as first-year Hannah Recine drew a bases loaded walk. They added a run in the fourth, as junior infielder Audrey Minton laced an RBI single up the middle to tie the game 3-3. 
• In the fifth inning, first-year Haley Coombs launched a two-run double to right-center and first-year Hannah Olejniczak added an RBI to give the Knights a 6-3 lead. Junior Iris Kahris ripped an RBI single in the sixth to make it 7-3 and added a two-run single to cap a five-run seventh inning as the Knights pulled away, 12-4. 
• Senior Mattie Klein pitched three shutout innings, scattering four hits and ringing up three strikeouts to close out the game and earn the save. 

QUICK FACTS 

• Minton finished 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in game two to lead 10 different Knights with at least one hit in the two games combined. First-years Tori Guary, Hannah Recine, Tara Brochu, Haley Coombs and Hannah Olejniczak each recorded their first career collegiate hits in game two. 
• Kahris finished 3-for-5 with three RBI and a stolen base while Coombs went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Recine, Gulick and Minton each finished with two RBI as well. 
• The Knights totaled 18 hits in game two after mustering just three in game one against Babson. 
• Geneseo is 5-0 in its last five extra inning games and has not lost in extra innings since March 15, 2020 (9-5 vs. Wooster).

The Knights improve to 4-1 and will take Tuesday off before battling Clarkson and Carroll (Wisc.) on Wednesday morning.
