Box Score 2 CLERMONT, FLA. - SUNY Geneseo first-year Kaitlyn Schmitz recorded three hits and earned her first collegiate pitching victory as the Knights split a pair of games at Legends Park on Sunday morning and afternoon.
GAME 1 - Hamilton 4, Geneseo 1
- Junior pitcher Elizabeth Eberhardt tossed four scoreless innings as the Knights and Continentals remained tied 0-0 through the first four innings.
- In the top of the fifth, Hamilton strung together three hits and a walk to plate three runs and take a 3-0 lead. The Continentals added another run in the top of the sixth to make it 4-0.
- Geneseo loaded the bases in the top of the seventh inning, but could only drive in one run on an RBI groundout from Katherine Hayes.
GAME 2 - Geneseo 6, Macalester 2
- Macalester jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, plating a pair of runs in the third inning. Junior pitcher Mattie Woodard struck out the side in the fourth inning, finishing with a four-inning no decision with two runs on one hit and four walks with seven strikeouts.
- In the top of the fifth, junior Leah VanDerwarker ripped an RBI single through the left side to plate Iris Kahris, making it 2-1.
- Schmitz tossed three shutout innings to blank the Scots' bats, setting up the Knights' late-game heroics.
- Down to their final out with the go-ahead run on second base, VanDerwarker scorched a hot shot to center field that the Macalester defender couldn't handle, giving the Knights a 3-2 lead. Sophomore Rebecca Schwartz followed with an RBI double and Schmitz and senior Taylor Riccardi each hit RBI singles to extend the Geneseo lead to 6-2.

- Riccardi and Schmitz each recorded at least one hit in both games, while the Knights recorded just 10 hits in the two games combined.
