Box Score 2 GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior infielder Taylor Riccardi finished with four hits, including the game-winning RBI in game one as the Knights earned a pair of one-run victories over Oneonta in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Semifinals on Saturday at Vic Raschi Field
GAME ONE - GENESEO 7, ONEONTA 6 (8 INN.)
- Geneseo fell behind, 1-0, in the top of the third inning when Oneonta plated a run, but the Knights responded with three in the bottom of the frame. Riccardi drove home an RBI and junior catcher Katherine Hayes added a two-run single to put Geneseo ahead, 3-1.
- In the fifth inning, sophomore infielder Anna Johnston blasted a three-run home run over the right-center field fence to extend the Knights' lead to 6-1.
- The Red Dragons battled back in the top of the sixth inning with five runs on five hits to tie the game, 6-6.
- Sophomore pitcher Elizabeth Eberhardt came into the game in relief, shutting down the Red Dragons in the seventh and eighth. Sophomore outfielder Leah VanDerwarker led off the bottom of the eighth with a walk and advanced to second when senior outfielder Samantha Seeger laid down a sacrifice bunt. Two batters later, Riccardi laced a single up the middle and VanDerwarker beat the throw home to score the winning run.
GAME TWO - GENESEO 2, ONEONTA 1
- Riccardi opened the scoring in game two with a first-inning sacrifice fly, putting the Knights ahead, 1-0.
- First-year pitcher Lauren Kersch shut down the Oneonta bats through 6.1 innings, allowing just one earned run on two hits while recording eight strikeouts.
- In the fourth inning, sophomore infielder Olivia Fazio ripped an RBI single to put Geneseo up 2-0.
- Oneonta scored one run in the sixth inning, but Kersch worked the Knights out of a jam to keep the lead and earn the victory.
QUICK FACTS
- Riccardi finished 4-for-7 with three RBI and two runs scored while VanDerwarker recorded three hits and three runs scored.
- Geneseo advances to the SUNYAC Finals for the third-straight tournament. The Knights won the SUNYAC championship in 2018 and fell in the finals to Cortland in 2019. The 2020 SUNYAC Tournament was cancelled.

Geneseo will compete in the SUNYAC Championship series on Saturday, May 15. The Knights will either travel to Cortland to face the Red Dragons or host the Buffalo State Bengals.
