Box Score CORTLAND, N.Y. - Suny Geneseo senior attacker Tim Fallo recorded a goal and three assists, but it was not enough as the Knights fell to the Cortland Red Dragons 11-8 in the State University of New York (SUNYAC) Conference Championship friday night at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights struggled to find their rhythm early on in the game, trailing 5-0 at the end of the first quarter and then 6-0 early on in the second quarter. It wasn't until the 9:02 mark of the second quarter that the Knights jumped on the score sheet, when junior attacker Kevin Cook scored on the man advantage after an assist from Fallo. Cook also scored the Knights second goal but the team faced a 7-2 deficit at halftime.
- Geneseo got off to a quick start in the third quarter on a goal from junior midfielder Liam Thompson under a minute into play. After Cortland answered, Geneseo responded with two goals, one from sophomore attacker Christian Marcello Jr. and the other from senior midfielder Cameron Chiodo on an assist from Fallo, cutting the deficit to 9-5 entering the fourth.
- After going down 10-5 early in the fourth quarter, the Knights scored three straight goals to close the margin to two, the closest it had been since the 5:49 mark of the first quarter. Senior attacker James Pratt scored on the man advantage on an assist from Cook. Marcello Jr. then ripped a goal to the top left corner 34 seconds later, also on the man advantage, on an assist from Fallo. Fallo scored on an assist from Pratt with just under five minutes to play, but the Knights couldn't complete the comeback as Cortland tacked on one more goal late to win 11-8.
