Men's Lacrosse Rolls Past Brockport With 16-7 Victory

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior attacker Tim Fallo was a major catalyst for the Geneseo offense, handing out a team-high five assists and adding a goal of his own as the Knights rolled to a 16-7 victory over State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) rival Brockport on Friday everning. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Knights fell behind just 1:30 into the game as Brockport tallied the first goal, but junior attacker Kevin Cook scored back-to-back goals, including a man-up tally, and senior defenseman Tyler Bushnell added a score to give the Knights a 3-1 lead after the first quarter. 
  • Geneseo outscored Brockport, 7-1, in the second frame to pull away from the Golden Eagles. Senior attacker James Pratt notched his first goal of the game with 1:37 to go in the half, giving the Knights a 10-2 advantage heading into the halftime break. 
  • First-year defenseman Trevor Bollinger scored his first career goal, one of four Knights to score in the third quarter as Geneseo extended its lead to 14-4 heading into the final frame.
  • In the fourth quarter, senior attacker Connor Griffin netted both Geneseo tallies as the team held off Brockport to earn its second-straight conference win. 

QUICK FACTS

  • Kevin Cook scored a team-high three goals, his third-consecutive hat trick this season. Cook has scored 20 goals and tallied 26 points in his last six appearances dating back to the 2020 campaign
  • Bushnell finished with two goals, his second-consecutive multi-goal game. He added four ground balls and three caused turnovers to lead the Knights in both categories. 
  • Byrne, Pratt, Bushnell, Griffin and sophomore attacker Keegan Doller each scored two goals while Byrne and sophomore midfielder William McCumiskey added two assists apiece. 
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Mark Pav made 11 saves in 58 minutes of action while first-year goalkeeper Joseph Weidel finished the game in net, making his collegiate debut. 

WHAT'S NEXT? 

Geneseo (2-2, 2-0 SUNYAC) will return to action on Friday, April 16 when the team travels to Cortland for a rematch with the Red Dragons.
