Box Score CORTLAND, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior attacker Tim Fallo scored three goals and dished out six assists but the Knights felt short, 14-13, in their rematch against Cortland on Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo came out of the gates firing as they scored two goals in the first four minutes of play. Sophomore midfielder William McCumiskey scored the first just before the 12:00 mark and senior attacker James Pratt scored the second under a minute later on an assist from Fallo.
- The Knights held a 4-1 lead at the end of the first quarter as sophomore attacker Brady Sullivan (5:19) and Fallo (0:23) scored to extend the lead.
- Geneseo scored three goals in the second quarter to give themselves a 7-4 halftime lead. Senior attacker Connor Grffin scored the fifth on an assist from Pratt. Fallo scored his second of the game with 5:53 remaining in the half and junior attacker Kevin Cook scored his first with seven seconds to play in the half.
- In the second half, Cortland tallied three-straight scores after halftime to tie the game up at 7-7. The Knights finished the quarter on a 5-1 run to up their lead to 12-8 going into the fourth quarter.
- The Red Dragons scored six-consecutive goals to open the fourth quarter to take a 14-12 lead with 2:04 to play. Cook scored with just over a minute to play to cut the deficit in half, but time ran out on the Knights as they fell, 14-13.
QUICK FACTS
- Fallo matched a career-high with nine points and became the first Geneseo men's lacrosse player to register nine points in a single game against Cortland.
- The Knights caused 14 Cortland turnovers in the game. First year defender Trevor Bollinger led the team with five.
- Senior goalie Bernard Tomaszewski made seven saves in his collegiate debut.
- Pratt and Bollinger each had a team-high four ground balls.
