Box Score 2 GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior outfielder Samantha Seeger and sophomore infielder Audrey Minton each ripped two-run home runs to highlight a pair of wins as the Knights defeated Rochester, 1-0, and 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at Raschi Field.
GAME ONE
- Geneseo was held without a hit through the first three innings, but threatened in the first inning, loading the bases on a pair of errors and a hit by pitch, but could not convert for a run.
- Senior pitcher Nicole Schwartz scattered six hits over seven innings to earn the complete-game shutout. Schwartz worked out of a fourth-inning jam as Rochester loaded the bases, but the senior pitcher forced an inning-ending groundout to keep the game scoreless.
- In the bottom of the sixth inning, Minton led off with a double and came home when sophomore infielder Olivia Fazio hit a deep sacrifice fly to left-center field three batters later, giving the Knights a 1-0 lead.
- Schwartz retired the Yellowjackets in order in the seventh inning to earn the victory.
GAME TWO
- Seeger opened game two with a two-run blast to left field, driving in sophomore infielder Leah Vanderwarker to give the Knights a 2-0 lead.
- First-year pitcher Lauren Kersch allowed just one hit, a solo home run in the second inning, in her collegiate debut. Kersch twirled seven innings, facing just one batter over the minimum to earn her first win as a Knight.
- The Knights added a run in the third inning, scoring on a Rochester error, to make it 3-1. Minton then hammered a rise ball over the left-center field fence, driving in junior outfielder Phoebe Elardo to extend the lead to 5-1. Geneseo added an insurance run in the sixth, scoring on a passed ball.
