Box Score CANTON, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore midfielder Kevin Cook scored four goals and had two assists, but the Knights lost their first game of the season to the 15th-ranked St. Lawrence Saints on Saturday afternoon, 9-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights had five shots on goal in the first eight minutes but did were held scoreless until Cook scored to tie the game 1-1 at the 6:58 mark.
- Sophomore midfielder Jake Steffen and junior attack James Pratt both scored in the opening minutes of the second quarter. Cook scored on a breakaway with 6:03 left in the half to give Geneseo a 5-3 lead but the Saints scored twice and closed out the first half tied at 5-5.
- After surrendering the lead after halftime, Cook ripped a long shot into the net and tied the game at 6-6 with 9:33 to play in the third quarter.
- St. Lawrence scored three-straight goals to take a 9-6 lead with 12:54 to play in the game. Cook connected with junior attack Tim Fallo with 4:39 left in the fourth quarter, but St. Lawrence held on to win 9-7.
