Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore attackman Kevin Cook finished with four goals and an assist as the Knights held off visiting Ithaca for a 12-11 victory over the Bombers on Sunday afternoon at College Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo struck first as sophomore attackman James Pratt scored just 1:29 into the contest but Ithaca responded with four-straight goals and took a 5-2 lead into the second period.
- In the second frame, Pratt scored twice and Cook added a tally, drawing Geneseo even, 5-5, at the halftime break.
- Ithaca scored the first goal of the second half, but the Knights responded as junior attackman Tim Fallo, sophomore midfielder Tommy DeVito and Cook rattled off consecutive goals to give Geneseo an 8-6 lead with 11:37 to go in the period. Senior attacker Dillon Rogers added a tally in the final minute of the period as the Knights entered the fourth ahead, 9-7.
- In the final period, Cook scored twice and Pratt added an insurance goal that proved to be the game-winner, as Geneseo earned a victory in its home opener.
QUICK FACTS
- Pratt finished with four goals while Fallo scored once and added four assists. Junior attacker Connor Griffin added a goal and two assists as well.
- DeVito led the team with six ground balls as he and sophomore midfielder Ryan Lee combined to go 19-for-26 at the faceoff dot.
- Junior defender Tyler Bushnell finished with a team-high two caused turnovers and added an assist while senior goalkeeper Tyler Wetzel finished with eight saves to earn the win.
