GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo sophomore attackman Matthew Malone totaled two goals and three assists while first-year attackman Connor Griffin added three goals and an assist to lead the Knights to a 15-3 season-opening victory over visiting Morrisville, Wednesday. 

HOW IT HAPPPENED 

• Geneseo opened a 3-0 lead with 7:16 on the first-quarter clock including back-to-back tallies by Rogers and Griffin to open the game. Morrisville (0-2) answered with a pair of goal in the final six minutes of the first quarter to make it a one-goal game heading in to the second. 
• Sophomore attackman Dillon Rogers notched the first of his three goals on the afternoon 1:05 into the second quarter to start a 4-0 Knights' run that yielded a 7-2 lead with 6:38 on the clock. The Mustangs scored a goal with 4:57 left in the first half as Geneseo held a 7-3 edge at halftime. 
• The Knights out-scored Morrisville, 8-0, in the second half, including five in the fourth quarter to put the game away. 

QUICK FACTS 

• Geneseo finished the game with a 42-17 advantage in shots, including a 26-11 edge in shots on goal. 
• The Knights compiled a 42-18 edge in ground balls, including a team-high five by senior defenseman Ryan Cates. 
• Senor midfielder Mark Friske won 13 of 19 face-offs for Geneseo. 
• Geneseo won its fourth-straight season-opener and second in a row over Morrisville. The Knights picked up a road win over the Mustangs, 11-5, last spring.
