Men's Lacrosse Takes Down Morrisville In Season-Opener, 11-5

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore attackman Zachary DeBottis totaled two goals and two assists while junior midfielder Alex Leuze tacked on a goal and three assists to lead the Knights to an 11-5 victory over host Morrisville, Wednesday, to open the season with a victory under first-year head coach Nick Fiorentino.

Tied, 1-1, after the first quarter, sophomore attackman Kyle Wanamaker scored a goal 41 seconds into the second period as the Knights tallied five-unanswered goals to carry a 6-1 lead into halftime. 

The visitors scored the opening three goals of the third quarter for a 9-1 edge with 9:41 on the clock en route to a 10-2 lead heading into the final period. Morrisville out-scored Geneseo, 3-1, in the final seven minute of action, but it was the Knights earning the victory.

Knights' sophomore defenseman Jack Crowley finished the afternoon with a team-high four ground balls while also forcing three of the Mustangs' 17 turnovers. Junior goalie Michael Yehl earned the victory in net, compiling 11 saves in just over 53 minutes of work. 

Geneseo hosts Alfred on Saturday (March 4) at 1:00 p.m. in the first home game of the season.
