GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo first-year attackman Ryan Kelly totaled two goals and an assist while sophomore attackman Kyle Wanamaker added two goals, but it was visiting Plattsburgh taking the 19-8 decision in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's lacrosse action, Saturday.

Geneseo (5-6, 1-3 SUNYAC) built a 4-3 first-quarter lead but five unanswered tallies by the Cardinals (6-6, 2-1 SUNYAC) staked the visitors to a 8-4 halftime lead that they never gave up. 

Wanamaker scored the game's first goal with 13:21 on the first quarter clock, but Plattsburgh quickly evened the score nine seconds later after winning the ensuing face-off. Junior midfielder Michael Engstrom bounced home his first tally at 10:19 to put the Knights back on top, but the Cardinals again answered to draw even at 8:26.

Geneseo finished the quarter on a 2-1 run as Kelly got into the action with a man-up rip from the left side at 1:51. Plattsburgh tied the score at the 1:10 mark, but junior attackman Tim Wright beat the 1st-quarter horn after launching a shot from midfield that bounced into the Cardinal net with two seconds on the clock.

Plattsburgh forged a four-goal lead in the second quarter as sophomore attackman Ryan Hubbard, who finished the game with five goals and three assists, scored three times during the run. 

Geneseo opened the second half with back-to-back goals by junior midfielder Sean Tomkinson (11:02) and Wanamaker to pull within two, 8-6, with 5:04 on the clock, but the Cardinals scored six unanswered goals over the next six minutes of action into the fourth quarter to build a 14-6 edge that proved to be the difference.

First-year attackman Zachary DeBottis scored for Geneseo with 11:42 left in regulation, but the Cardinals finished the game out-scoring their hosts, 5-1, to seal the victory.

Geneseo honored the eight members of the Class of 2016 playing in their final home game in a pre-game Senior Day ceremony, including defenseman Mike Bates, defensive midfielder Jonathan Brannen, defensive midfielder Jordan Briceland, midfielder Joe Chiara, defenseman Matt Donoghue, defensive midfielder Tobias Nobiling, defenseman Conor Suddaby and midfielder Brad Willows. 

Geneseo closes the regular season with SUNYAC dates at Oneonta (Apr. 23) and Cortland (Apr. 27).
