Box Score AURORA, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo first-year attackman Kyle Wanamaker totaled four goals and three assists while sophomre attackman Joshua Merkel added three goals and four assists to lead the Knights to a 27-5 victory at Wells, Tuesday.
Tied, 1-1, less than three minutes into the game, the Knights (3-2) scored four unanswered goals including a pair by Tim Wright, to take a 5-1 lead with 6:23 left in the first quarter.
Wells (1-3) answered with a pair of goals, to pull within two at 5:18, but a goal by Joe Chiara with 2:00 on the clock would start a 6-1 Geneseo run through the second quarter as the Knights took a commanding 11-4 lead by halftime.
Geneseo went on a 11-0 run, including eight unanswered tallies in the third, to lead 22-4 with 5:39 left in regulation, before finishing with a 5-1 spurt to close the game.
The Knights return to action on Wednesday, hosting St. John Fisher at 7:00 p.m.
