Box Score ALFRED, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore attackman Ryan Kelly notched a game-high six points on five goals and one assist as the Knights tied the program record for most goals in a game with a 27-2 victory at Alfred State in NCAA men's lacrosse action, Tuesday afternoon.
The last time Geneseo scored 27 goals came opposite Siena in 1977. First-year attackmen Jack Ladd and Kyle Wanamaker each had four goals and one assist while junior attackman Ryan Gulbransen added two goals and three assists and junior midfielder Michael Engstrom and first-year attackman Zachary DeBottis added two goals and two assists apiece. A total of 14 players finished with at least one goal for the Knights.
Geneseo (2-0) held a 12-0 lead at halftime and at the 10:13 mark in the third quarter, the squad scored its 15th unanswered goal. With 9:50 on the clock in the same period, the Pioneers (0-2) recorded a man-up goal to get on the scoreboard, 15-1. Alfred State's second tally of the game came with just 12 seconds remaining in the final quarter.
Sophomore Michael Yehl and first-year Joseph Rugolo split time in goal and made five and two saves, respectively, as first-year midfielder Zach Sortisio led the team with four groundballs.
The Knights completed 19 of 20 clear opportunities, won 20 of 32 face-offs and finished with a 61-15 advantage in shots.
Geneseo returns home to play its final game before Spring Break against Morrisville this Saturday, March 5, at 3 p.m.
