Box Score OSWEGO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior midfielder Steve Aziz and senior attackman Steven Cregan each tallied two goals but it was host Oswego taking the 8-6 victory in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action, Saturday afternoon.
Geneseo jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after Cregan scored unassisted at 12:35 in the first quarter and sophomore midfielder Michael Engstrom found the back of the net at at 10:15. However, the Lakers responded with two-straight scores, including a goal with 23 seconds on the clock, to make it 2-2 going into the second quarter.
At the 12:14 mark in the second quarter, Cregan struck again to give the visitors a 3-2 edge and Aziz made it 4-2 with a man-up tally at 8:25. After Oswego scored on a man-up opportunity at 4:55, the hosts tacked on a goal with 35 seconds in the period to enter halftime tied at four.
Senior midfielder Nick Giampaolo scored back-to-back goals to open the third quarter, giving the Lakers a 6-4 advantage at 9:54. Less than a minute later, senior attackman Andre Keating scored to make it 6-5, which held for the remainder of the period.
Oswego tallied a goal at 8:20 in the fourth quarter to extend its lead back to two, 7-5. However, Aziz recorded a man-up goal after a pushing penalty was called on the hosts to bring the Knights within one, 7-6, at 3:21. The Lakers won the ensuing face-off and Giampaolo scored with 59 seconds on the clock to take the home win.
Geneseo finished its 2015 campaign with a 5-9 overall record, including a 1-5 SUNYAC mark that left the team out of the conference tournament for the second-straight season.
