Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior midfielder Steve Aziz scored three goals for the Knights but it was St. Lawrence taking the 18-6 road victory, Tuesday afternoon, in a game played at RIT.
Sophomore attackman Tim Wright had a goal and two assists while junior midfielder Joe Chiara and senior attackman Cory Gleasman each added a score in the setback.
Geneseo (4-2) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after goals by Aziz at 13:05 and Chiara at 7:12 in the first quarter. However, the Saints responded by scoring twelve unanswered goals.
St. Lawrence (4-4) senior attackman Tommy Hovey scored three goals, two on man-up opportunities, while sophomore attackman Conor Healy had two goals to give the visitors a 5-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Saints tallied three-consecutive man-up goals to take an 8-2 advantage with 3:07 on the clock. The visitors tacked on two more goals to lead 10-2 at halftime.
Hovey continued the scoring for St. Lawrence with a goal at 12:45 and a man-up score at 12:19 to make it 12-2. Aziz got the Knights back on the board with a goal at 9:17 and Wright made it a 12-4 game at 8:53 off an assist from senior attackman Steven Cregan. Hovey and Healy scored in the final minute of the third quarter to give St. Lawrence a 14-4 lead going into the final period.
After an Aziz tally made it 14-5 at 14:00, first-year attackman Cal Hynson scored two-straight goals for the Saints. Gleasman found the back of the net at 4:57 as St. Lawrence scored two more goals to take the 12-goal win.
Geneseo begins State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play this Saturday, March 28, at Potsdam. Game time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
