Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. – SUNY Geneseo senior attackman Steven Cregan led the Knights with three goals and three assists but it was Keene State coming away with the 15-9 win at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla., Monday.
Trailing, 2-0, at 13:04 in the first quarter, sophomore midfielder Thomas Piazza scored to put Geneseo on the board. After two-straight goals from the Owls to make it 4-1, sophomore attackman Tim Wright recorded a goal to make it 4-2 going into the second quarter.
At 7:43 in the second quarter, Cregan tallied a man-up goal to bring the Knights within one, 4-3. Keene State responded by scoring three unanswered goals to take a 7-3 advantage into halftime.
With 7:52 on the clock in the third quarter, senior attackman Cory Gleasman made it a 7-4 game off an assist from Cregan. However, the Owls tallied four-straight to extend their lead to eight, 12-4, which they took into the final period.
Senior midfielder Steve Aziz recorded a man-up goal at 13:46 in the fourth quarter to make it 12-5. After another Keene State tally, Cregan scored unassisted to make it 13-6 at 12:39. The Owls scored two-straight to extend their lead to nine, 15-6, at 5:33.
Geneseo tacked on three-straight goals in just over thirty seconds but were unable to overcome the nine-goal deficit. Cregan scored on a man-up opportunity at 4:47, senior midfielder Parker Weeks scored just under ten seconds later after winning the face-off and junior attackman Tony Karam found the back of the net at 4:15.
Senior goalkeeper Alex Howell made 17 saves in the setback.
The Knights are scheduled to play St. Lawernce at home next Tuesday, March 24, at 4 p.m. before heading to Potsdam the following Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. match-up.
