Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior attackman Ryan Gulbransen totaled six points on three goals and three assists while senior attackmen Steven Cregan and Brent Lawless each also had three goals to lead the Knights to a 20-5 win over Wells, Friday afternoon, in a game played at RIT.
Geneseo (4-0) tallied nine unanswered goals through the first two quarters of play. After a score by sophomore midfielder Drew Madarasz at 11:21 and Cregan at 10:45 in the first period, junior midfielder Joe Chiara scored at 8:50 to make it 3-0. At 4:18, senior attackman Andre Keating found the back of the net while Cregan scored another just over a minute later to give the Knights a 5-0 lead going into the second period.
Lawless notched his first score of the game at 10:07 in the second quarter as Cregan tallied his third during a man-up opportunity at 8:44 to make it 7-0. Goals from sophomore midfielder Michael Engstrom and Gulbransen at 5:56 and 4:24, respectively, gave Geneseo a 9-0 advantage at halftime.
At 14:01 in the third quarter, sophomore attackman Alex Milliken scored a goal to put the Express on the board, 9-1. The visitors tacked on another goal to make it 9-2 at 13:01. Scores by sophomore midfielder Sean Tomkinson at 10:02 and Keating at 7:45 extended the Knights' lead back to nine, 11-2. After Wells' third tally of the game, Engstrom and Gulbransen scored as Geneseo took a 13-4 lead into the final quarter.
First-year midfielder Andrew Cummings scored with 13:05 on the clock in the fourth quarter to put the Knights up, 14-4. A goal from junior attackman Tony Karam and Tomkinson and two tallies by Lawless over a four-minute span made it 18-4 at 7:31. Gulbransen scored his third tally of the day with 6:02 remaining in the game while first-year midfielder Duncan Morrison recorded a goal at 4:42.
Geneseo outshout the Express, 65-8, as senior midfielder Parker Weeks won 27 of 29 face-offs and picked up 24 of the Knights' 57 ground balls in the victory.
Geneseo will face Keene St. (N.H.) at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., on March 16 at 3 p.m. before returning home for a game versus St. Lawrence on March 24 at 4 p.m.
