Box Score 2 ALFRED, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior Katie Muller threw a no-hitter in the second game of a doubleheader at Alfred State, to lead the Knights to a sweep of the Pioneers, Friday afternoon. Following a Geneseo 4-3 come-back win in the opener, Moore's performance led a 10-1 victory in the nightcap.
GAME 2 - GENESEO 4, ALFRED STATE 3
In the opener, junior center fielder Kayleigh Blersch finished 1-for-4 with two RBI while first-year first baseman Abby Dennett finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI to lead Geneseo to a 4-3 victory. Junior shortstop Sami Brown also went 2-for-4 and scored a run in the winning effort.
Junior pitcher Corrin Spallone picked up her seventh win of the season, throwing four innings of two-hit relief while striking out four for the Knights.
Trailing 2-0 after the Pioneers brought a pair of runs across in the fourth inning, Geneseo responded in the fifth with a three-run, two-out rally, highlighted by a RBI single by Dennett and a two-run, bases loaded single by Blersch.
Senior third baseman Elise Porreca singled home a run in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach.
GAME 1 - GENESEO 10, ALFRED STATE 1
Muller threw seven hitless innings while striking out nine Alfred State batters to lead a 10-1 Knights victory. Geneseo clung to a 1-0 lead until a nine-run seventh inning put the game away.
At the plate, Porrecca went 3-or-4 with three RBI, while Muller also helped her own cause with a 2-for-4 showing with two RBI. Dennett added a pinch-hit two-run double during the decisive final inning.
Alfred was able to bring around a run in the bottom of the seventh following a walk and a pair of wild pitches.
Geneseo returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Brockport for a key SUNYAC doubleheader with the Golden Eagles set to start at 12:00 p.m.
