Softball Splits SUNYAC Doubleheader At Cortland

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CORTLAND, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior first baseman Sam Trapasso became the program's all-time leading homerun hitter with a two-run shot in the first inning to lead the Knights to a 2-0 victory over Cortland in the opening game of a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) softball doubleheader, Friday.

Cortland came back to earn the split with a 5-3 victory in the night cap.

In game one, sophomore Mikayla Moore pitched a complete-game four-hit shutout while striking out eight batters to lead the Knights to victory.

Junior shortstop Sami Brown drew a one-out walk and Trapasso followed with the record-setting home run to right field for the only two runs of the game.

In Game 2, first-year outfielder Alyssa Presutti went 1-for-2 with a homerun, while junior designated player Ashley Fillmore went 1-for-4 with a two-run homerun, but it was Cortland scoring a run in each of the first three innings and two more in the fourth to take the second game, 5-3.
