Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. – SUNY Geneseo's softball team dropped two games on Thursday at the Dot Richardson Spring Games.
In the first game, the Knights jumped out to an early 1-0 lead against Bowdoin. Senior Sam Trapasso doubled to bring in junior Ashley Fillmore, who was on base with a single and a throwing error.
Bowdoin waited until the fifth to respond, but its five runs was enough to hold onto the 5-1 victory.
Sophomore Mikayla Moore allowed five hits and five runs, and struck out six before junior Nicole Zimmerman replaced her on the mound in the fifth inning. In the remaining innings, Zimmerman limited the Polar Bears to two hits, struck out three and walked one.
Despite the loss, senior Elise Porreca led the Knights going 3-4, including a double, and stealing a base.
In the second game against Babson, Geneseo couldn't match the Beavers with a run in the bottom of the ninth, falling 3-2 in the extra-inning affair.
The Knights took an early 1-0 lead again in the first inning, but Babson came back with two runs in the sixth inning. The Beavers capitalized on a Geneseo error and a pair of hits.
Junior Corrin Spallone struck out 13 batters and allowed four hits and two runs in her season debut. Fillmore led the Knights, going 1-3 with a run and two stolen bases.
The Knights conclude their spring break trip on Friday, taking on Lawrence (Wis.) and Worcester (Mass.) at 9 a.m ET and 11 a.m. ET, respectively.
