WILLIAMSTON, MASS. - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team competed at Williams College on Wednesday, May 14 and Thursday, May 15 in the AARTFC Regional Championship Meet, and left with the regional title, placing first with 88 points.
DAY ONE RECAP:
Gabby McCarthy highlighted the performances on Wednesday with a first place finish in the 5000m, recording a meet record time of 16:54.55.
Skyler Klimow added six points in the javelin throw by taking third at a distance of 37.90m, then
Lanna Wandy added six more points in the long jump at a distance of 5.70m.
DAY TWO RECAP:
The team of Sam Pynn,
Brynn Mooney,
Jillian Ambler, and
Kayla Huba competed in the 4x100 relay to open up the track events and took second place with a time of 46.33.
Penelope Greene then took on the 1500m and picked up a meet record time of 4:22.23, a new personal best and second fastest time in program history. Mooney set a meet record of her own in the 400m with a time of 54.45 seconds, which also marked a new program record. Mooney competed in the 200m as well and took third at 24.27 seconds. Ambler continued to rack up the points for Geneseo, racing in the 100m hurdles and taking third at 14.16 seconds.
Janelle Eckl went on to set a meet record in the 800m, placing first with a time of 2:10.11.
Zoe Connor highlighted the field events with a fourth place finish in the hammer throw at 51.65m.
