GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team earned two All-Region honors from D3hoops.com, announced by the website on Tuesday afternoon.
Mackenzie Reigle and
Kristin Suydam picked up Third-Team honors for the Knights, after leading the team to an Empire 8 Championship and Sweet 16 appearance.
Reigle finishes her senior season as the NCAA Division III leader in assists, averaging 7.9 per game. Earlier this season, Reigle set a new program record for assists in a season, surpassing the 186 mark set by P.J. McTigue in the 1998-99 season. Reigle has recorded 245 this season, and finishes her career second all-time in career assists with 544. Additionally, she finished the year averaging 8.4 points per game and 5.2 rebounds, following an impressive postseason run in both the Empire 8 and NCAA Tournaments. Reigle was named the Empire 8 Tournament MVP after averaging 14.0 points, 9.0 assists and 6.7 rebounds per game in Geneseo's three E8 Tournament wins. In the three NCAA Tournament games, the Batavia, N.Y. native averaged 16.7 points, 7.3 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game.
Suydam led Geneseo in scoring and rebounding this season, averaging 11.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Suydam also led the Knights in field goal percentage, converting 154/294 shots from the field for a 52.4 field goal percentage. In Geneseo's opening round upset at No. 15 Catholic, the Sayville, N.Y. native tied the program record for rebounds in a game with 20, a mark set by Jan Holcomb in 1980 and Lynn Hamilton in 1989.
