GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team was ranked No. 22 in the country by the D3hoops preseason poll, announced this week. The Knights are coming off a Sweet 16 appearance last season and will look to defend their Empire 8 Championship, with the season set to begin at home on Nov. 7 against No. 2 Scranton.
The Knights finished last season ranked in the No. 24 spot by D3hoops following their impressive postseason run, and return a plethora of talent from last years roster.
Kristin Suydam capped off her sophomore campaign by being named Third-Team All-Region, after leading the Knights offense in scoring and rebounding at 11.8 points per game and 7.5 rebounds.
Grace Galgano also highlights the class of returners as a Third-Team All-Conference honoree last season, and is joined by
Audrey Hintz,
Maggie McGrane, and
Eva Elliot as returners who all played over 500 minutes for the Knights last season.Â
Geneseo loses
Mackenzie Reigle, who was named a WBCA Honorable Mention All-American last season, as well as
Kiley Snow who joined Reigle as a First-Team All-Conference honoree. The Knights will also welcome a promising group of newcomers to the roster in
Jordyn Townes,
Elizabeth Craft, and
Sofia Vasselman.
Geneseo opens their season in Schrader Gym on Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. against No. 2 Scranton, and will then head on the road for the next five games.
