ROCHESTER, N.Y. AND BOSTON - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team split up this weekend, competing at both Nazareth and the Boston Valentine Invite. The Knights went on to set three school records at the Boston meet, and multiple other top-10 times between both meets.
At Boston,
Brynn Mooney opened up the record setting day by running the 400m in 55.32 seconds, breaking the indoor school record by nearly a second (.91), and moved herself into the top-five in Division III so far this season.
Janelle Eckl followed it up in the 800m, setting a new school record in the 800m with a time of 2:11.81, good enough for top-10 in Division III.
Penelope Greene closed out the record breaking meet by running the 5000m in 16:24.95, topping her own school record by 10 seconds. Greene's time is also fast enough for third in Division III this season.
The team of
Jillian Ambler,
Ava Bagley, Eckl, and Mooney took on the 4x400 relay at Boston, and put up a time of 3:49.20, which marked the second fastest time in program history. In the 200m at Boston, Ambler recorded a time of 25.39, the fourth fastest time in program history.
Sierra Doody competed at Nazareth over the weekend, and placed first in the 800m with a time of 2:12.57, the third fastest time in program history.
At Nazareth,
Annika Hurley took on the 5000m and earned a first place finish with a time of 17:54.34. In the field events on Friday,
Lauren Jaklitsch took second in the weight throw at 16.72m, while
Zoe Connor was right behind in third at 16.52m. In the long jump,
Ariana D'Onofrio picked up a first place finish with a distance of 5.36m, while
Kayla Huba took second at 5.25m. On Saturday, Connor earned first place in the shot put with a distance of 12.93m.
Elsye Klump rounded out the competition with a second place finish in the triple jump at 11.16m.
