OSWEGO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team earned a convincing victory at Oswego on Wednesday afternoon as they defeated the Lakers 17-6 to improve to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in SUNYAC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Geneseo took a 3-0 lead in the first three minutes of action as goals from Madelynn Brown, Hannah Marafioti, and Megan Henderson got the momentum rolling. Oswego bounced back and cut the deficit to two goals, but the Knights started to run away with it by scoring seven total goals in the first quarter and gaining a five-goal advantage.
• The Knights went on to take an eight-goal lead in the second quarter and went into halftime leading 11-4.
• Madelynn Brown and Marafioti came out strong in the third quarter as they combined to score the first four goals of the quarter and extend the lead to 15-4. Nicole Voci chipped in one more goal in the quarter to make a 12-goal lead heading into the final 15 minutes.
• Henderson notched the final goal of the game for Geneseo and they held on for a 17-6 win.

QUICK FACTS

• Marafioti led the offense with seven points on four goals and three assists, while Henderson added four points on two goals and two assists.
• Junior midfielder Meg Seeley had an impressive performance by tallying a game-high nine ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Both marked inividual season-highs in a game for the Knights.
• The Knights have won nine of the last 10 matchups against Oswego, and have won the last four matchups by 10 or more goals.
