Women's Lacrosse Falls in Empire 8 Championships

ROCHESTER, NY: The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team fell in the Empire 8 Championship to St. John Fisher this Saturday afternoon, losing 12-10 against the Cardinals.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead before Lila Warner got the Knights on the board. They added two more, coming from Dany Emler and Grace Reyna with under three to play in the first.
  • The Knights took a 6-5 lead at half, with goals from Emma McGuigan, Natalie Long and Rosemary Mahoney, who capitalized on a man-up opportunity at 4:21.
  • Fisher took control of the third, adding five more goals while Long tallied Geneseo's only goals in the third quarter at 11:09 and trailed 10-7 heading into the fourth.
  • The Knight mounted a comeback, cutting the deficit to two after Katie Rajkowski (2) and Natalie Long found the back of the net, but were unable to take the lead and fell to the Cardinals 12-10.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Lila Warner posted four points, scoring one goal and three assists. She finished the season 37 points from 25 goals and 12 assists.
  • Natalie Long led the Knights with three goals, recording her eight hattrick of the year. Long concludes her season totaling 39 goals to lead the Knights.
  • Teagan Culhane played all 60 minutes in net, tallying 10 saves against the Cardinals and totaling 82 this season.
