Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team celebrated their senior day in style as they took defeated New Paltz 18-3. The win marked the Knights eighth-straight victory, and capped off their regular season with a 13-2 overall record and 8-1 in SUNYAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks struck first just over a minute into the action, but graduate attacker Hannah Marafioti answered right back for Geneseo just 12 seconds later. Senior Emma Gaenzle finished off the first quarter with a free position goal with only one second on the clock and the Knights took a 5-1 advantage into the second quarter.
- Geneseo kept that momentum going in the second quarter as they went on to out score New Paltz 8-1. First-year attacker Madelynn Brown netted five goals in the period to lead the Knights, including another buzzer beater.
- Leading 13-2 heading into the third quarter, Geneseo extended its lead with five second half goals while only allowing the Hawks to tack on one more goal.

- Marafioti becomes just the second player in Geneseo WLAX history to score at least 50 goals in multiple seasons (2019, 2022), joining Caroline Buonocore '14 (2011, 2013).
- Marafioti tied her own program record for single-season points after adding five today (87).
- Madelynn Brown (7 goals) scored the most goals in a single-game by a first-year since Caroline Buonocore scored seven against Buffalo State in 2011.
