GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team earned its fourth-consecutive win on Wednesday afternoon as they defeated Buffalo St., 17-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Geneseo got off to a slow start offensively, but after sophomore midfielder Caitlyn Korzeniewski scored a free position shot four minutes into the action the Knights found their rhythm.
• The Knights went on to take a 5-0 lead after 12 minutes of play, with graduate attacker Hannah Marafioti netting two of the goals.
• Buffalo St. scored one to bring it back to a four-goal lead, but Marafioti netted her third of the quarter to make it a 6-1 advantage heading to the second quarter.
• Geneseo wasted no time expanding its lead in the second quarter as they scored four goals in the first five minutes to increase the lead to 10-1. Marafioti scored her fourth goal of the game with four minutes left to halftime and then senior midfielder Emma Gaenzle made it a 10-goal lead with three minutes left to play in the half.
• Senior attacker Victoria Cacioppo kept the scoring going for the Knights early in the second half by scoring just over a minute into the action. Geneseo went on to defeat the Bengals by a score of 17-4

QUICK FACTS

• Marafioti led Geneseo with six points on four goals and two assists, while sophomore attacker Molly Brown added a team-high three assists.
• Emily DeJohn got the start in goal, while Margaret Rosaschi, Lindsey Isenberg and Grace Perry all saw time in goal during the win as well.
• The Knights have now won 12-straight games against the Bengals, with the last six coming by double-digits.

Geneseo will head to Cortland on April 2 at 1 p.m. for a rematch of last year's SUNYAC semifinal game.
