Box Score HARTFORD, C.T. - The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team picked up its second-straight win powered by late game heroics on Wednesday night. The Knights defeated Trinity 14-13 behind a big fourth quarter comeback and a last-minute game-winning goal by sophomore midfielder Emily Salanger.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game opened up at a quick pace, with Salanger scoring in the first 32 seconds and both teams netting four goals by the end of the first 15 minutes.
- The Bantams took control of the game in the second quarter as they took a two-goal lead into halftime. The Knights went on to trail by as many as three in the third quarter, but three unanswered goals from Megan Cook, Hannah Marafioti, and Molly Brown tied it up at 9-9.
- Trinity responded to Geneseo's run by scoring three-straight of their own and holding a 12-9 lead with 10 minutes left to play in the game.
- Molly Brown scored her second-consecutive goal with 8:30 remaining to jump start a 4-0 run for the Knights to take a 13-12 advantage. Marafioti scored back-to-back goals to end the run, but Trinity answered back with 2:17 on the clock to tie the game.
- With 49 seconds on the clock, Marafioti found Salanger for the game-winning goal. April Rowell sealed the victory for Geneseo by taking the draw control and allowing the Knights to run out the clock.
