CORTLAND, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior attacker Jacqui Thorsen netted three goals but Geneseo saw its State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) championship run fall short as the Knights fell to host Cortland, 14-10, in the SUNYAC Semifinals on Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Geneseo fell behind 1-0 just over a minute into the game, but senior midfielder Megan Henderson tallied under a minute later to tie the game. Cortland took another one goal lead, but senior attacker Hannah Marafioti replied with a score to tie the game at the 24:40 mark. 
• Cortland rallied with three-straight goals to take a 5-2 lead, but the Knights battled back with consecutive scores to cut the deficit to 5-4 with 9:14 to play in the first half. The Red Dragons scored two-straight goals to close the half and take a 7-4 advantage into the halftime break. 
• After a Cortland score to open the second half, Geneseo tallied two-straight goals as Henderson and senior attacker Nicole Voci both scored to draw the Knights to within two goals, 8-6, with 26:07 to play. 
• A three-goal run by the Red Dragons made the score 11-6 with just over 15 minutes to play, and the Knights never recovered as Cortland ran out the clock. 

QUICK FACTS 

• Thorsen finished with a team-high eight draw controls while Henderson snagged a squad-best seven ground balls and caused three turnovers. Senior defender Caitlyn Merkel led the team with five caused turnovers.
• Nine of the Knights' 10 goals were scored by graduating seniors. Geneseo's senior class scored 107 out of the Knights' 137 total goals this year. 
• Geneseo graduates 10 student-athletes: Margaret Reagan, Lindsay Hernady, Sarah Kelly, Tessa Doody, Megan Henderson, Jacqui Thorsen, Caitlyn Merkel, Hannah Marafioti, Nicole Voci and Laura Skrzypczyk.
