Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior attacker Hannah Marafioti scored six goals and added four assists as the Knights defeated host RIT, 17-11, on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights fell behind as RIT scored the first two goals of the game, but Geneseo responded with three-straight goals to take a 3-2 lead with 16:19 remaining in the first half.
- Geneseo jumped out to its largest lead of the first half, 7-4, with 5:23 remaining as junior midfielder Laura Skrzypczyk netted a free-position goal. Geneseo held an 8-6 lead at halftime.
- In the second half, senior attacker Tessa Doody and Marafioti each scored in the first minute of play to give Geneseo a 10-6 lead.
- RIT responded with consecutive goals but the Knights ended the game on a 7-3 run to earn the 17-11 victory.
QUICK FACTS
- Marafioti's 10-point performance was the second of her career, joining Maggie Benham '08 as the only two Knights to record multiple 10-point games. Marafioti moves into fourth in Geneseo history with 157 career points, passing Laura Chatterton '05, Maggie Morris '09 and Shauna Leonard '08 on the Knights' all-time list.
- Doody finished with four goals and an assist while junior attacker Nicole Voci scored twice and added a pair of assists.
- Junior defense Caitlyn Merkel finished with five draw controls and a team-high four caused turnovers to lead the Knights' defense.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Margaret Rosaschi earned her third win of the season with 10 saves in the cage.
