Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo first-year attacker Hannah Marafioti totaled five goals and an assist while sophomore attacker Tessa Doody was credited with four goals and an assist to lead the No. 13 Knights to a 20-9 victory over visiting Oneonta, Saturday, in both teams' State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo (8-0, 1-0 SUNYAC) opened a 7-0 lead with 18:25 on the first-half clock, including two goals apiece by Marafioti and Doody.
- Oneonta (3-4-1, 0-1 SUNYAC) answered with back-to-back goals in the next minute and a half, but tallies by senior midfielder Erin Cregan, Marafioti and Doody pushed the Knights' lead to eight, 10-2, at 7:46.
- Geneseo finished the half on a 3-1 run two take a 13-3 edge after 30 minutes of play.
- Oneonta scored four of the first five goals of the second half to pull within seven, 14-7, but the Knights responded with a 6-1 run to take a 20-8 lead with 10:34 remaining.
