Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior attack Hannah Millich totaled a goal and an assist, but it was No. 10 Ithaca pushing past the visiting Knights, 8-4, Friday afternoon in women's lacrosse action.
Tied, 3-3, at halftime, the Bombers (9-2) out-scored Geneseo 5-1 in the second en route to the win.
Ithaca took an early lead with a pair of goals in the first two minutes of the game, but the Knights bounced back with back-to-back goals to even the score. Junior midfielder Erin Cregan converted a free-position attempt at 24:48 before first-year midfielder Tessa Doody scored off a nice fake at 15:18.
The Bombers reclaimed the lead with a tally at 8:41 but Knights' junior attack Rachel Fisher netted a free-position goal off a Millich feed less than a minute later to knot the game.
Ithaca started the second half with a decisive four-goal run to build a 7-3 lead with 16:48 remaining in regulation. Millich scored on a nice individual effort at the 13:02 mark, but Ithaca tacked on another goal less than a minute later and held Geneseo scoreless the rest of the way to preserve the victory.
Cregan finished the game with a game-high seven ground balls while also compiling five caused turnovers.
Geneseo (3-6) looks to get back in the win column with a trip to New Paltz on Saturday (Apr. 8) for a 1:00 p.m. SUNYAC matchup with the Hawks.
