Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior attack Erin Down was one of three Knights with two goals and an assist in a 12-5 victory over visiting Rochester, Tuesday.
Junior midfielder Lauren Corbett and sophomore midfielder Erin Cregan also tallied two goals and an assist each as Geneseo (4-3) rode a 6-0 halftime lead over the Yellowjackets (3-4) to its third-straight win.
First-year midfielder Maddie Lee opened the scoring 44 seconds into the game before Cregan and Corbett scored less than five minutes apart to put the Knights up 3-0 with 22:23 on the clock.
Geneseo scored three more times in the final eight minutes of the half, including a Cregan tally with six second on the clock for the 6-0 edge after 30 minutes of play.
Rochester sophomore midfielder Madeline Levy scored the first of her four goals 37 seconds into the second half to put the Yellowjackets on the board. Down answered with her second tally less than a minute later to make it a 7-1 Knights' edge with 24:26 remaining.
Rochester scored three of the game's next four goals to pull with four, 8-4, with 12:27 to play, but back-to-back goals by senior midfielder Liz Felix, as well as two more by sophomore attack Hannah Millich completed the Knights' 4-1 run over the last 10 minutes of regulation to seal the win.
Geneseo hits the road for a 4:00 p.m. contest at Ithaca on Thursday (March 31) before returning home on Saturday (Apr. 1) to open State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play opposite New Paltz at 12:00 p.m.
