SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior midfielder Emily Green notched her second goal of the season and added an assist to lead the Knights to a 2-0 victory at Skidmore in non-conference play, Friday afternoon.

"We had a good first half and an even better second half today. The game really came down to finishing off the plays we had in the final third of the field," said head coach Nate Wiley. "Emily scored a great goal and we were able to string together a number of solid opportunities after that as well. Our defense had a little trouble dealing with their system in the first half but after making some adjustments at halftime, they came out and really limited their chances offensively."

Both teams struggled to find the back of the net in the first half as the host Thoroughbreds entered halftime with an 6-4 edge in shots.

In the 69th minute, Greene put Geneseo on the board with a shot off the crossbar from the top of the penalty box after collecting an assist from sophomore forward Leah Greene.

In the 89th minute, junior forward Erin O'Connor secured the win for the Knights when she tallied a goal from eight yards out off a pass from Green.

Geneseo (3-1-1) outshot Skidmore (2-2), 11-7, as first-year goalkeeper Emily Janiszewski was only called upon to make one save en route to the team's fourth shutout of the season.

The Knights return to action this Sunday, Sept. 20, at Farmingdale St. for a match scheduled to kick-off at 11 a.m.
