ONEONTA, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior attacker Tara Basile totaled a game-high six points on two goals and four assists while first-year midfielder Erin Cregan and junior midfielder Liz Felix each added three goals to lead the No. 17 Knights to the 13-6 victory over New Paltz in their State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opener, played at Oneonta.

Geneseo (6-0, 1-0 SUNYAC) scored the first four goals of the game en route to a 9-3 halftime lead. Felix converted a free-position attempt at 28:58 before Basile got into the action with an unassisted tally 35 seconds later. Senior attacker Katey Hart cashed in a Basile assist with 26:00 on the clock before another Felix free-position goal came at 24:51. 

The Hawks (2-4, 1-1 SUNYAC) got on the board at 23:29, but a 5-0 run, bookended by a pair of Cregan goals, gave the Knights a 9-1 lead with 10:00 left in the first half the proved to be insurmountable. First-year midfielder Julia DePillo netted her first collegiate goal during the outburst. 

After New Paltz closed the first half with two goals, Cregan kicked off the second half with her third tally with 24:02 on the clock. New Paltz answered with its fourth goal of the day just over four minutes later, but back-to-back goals by sophomore attacker Kathleen DePillo at 18:14 and Felix at 14:37 gave Geneseo a 12-4 edge. The Hawks netted two goals the rest of the way, but fell for the first time in three games.

Geneseo built a 32-15 edge in ground balls while out-shooting the Hawks, 28-12. 

Geneseo is scheduled to return to SUNYAC action on Saturday traveling to No. 5 Cortland for a 12:30 p.m. face-off.
