Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. - SUNY Geneseo senior attack Katey Hart tallied six goals, one shy of her career-high, to lead the No. 13 Knights to a 16-3 win over the University of New England at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida, Wednesday.
First-year midfielder Erin Cregan recorded three goals while first-year attack Sam Downs added two goals and junior attack Tara Basile handed out five assists in the victory.
Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard for the first 12 minutes of play. At 17:35, Hart scored her first of three-consecutive goals as Geneseo held a 3-0 lead with 10:55 left in the first half. Junior attack Erin Down scored at 8:48 while Hart tacked on another goal at 7:51 to make it 5-0.
After a goal by the Nor'easters to make it 5-1, the Knights tallied three-straight goals to take an 8-1 advantage into halftime. Hart scored a free-position shot at 2:53, first-year midfielder Alexis Graham scored at 1:23 while Cregan found the back of the net on another free position with just one second remaining.
At 28:05 in the second period, senior midfielder Rachel Schwaner tallied a goal for the University of New England to cut its deficit to six, 8-2. After Cregan scored an unassisted goal at 25:26, sophomore midfielder Sarah Haggerty and Hart scored forty-seconds apart to make it an 11-2 game at 22:10. Cregan recorded another goal at 17:04 to extend Geneseo's lead to ten.
With 5:57 remaining in the period, the Nor'easters tallied their third goal but the Knights scored four-straight goals to end the game. Downs' score at 5:40 was followed by goals from first-year attacks Rachel Fisher at 4:02 and Halee Beebe at 1:32, as Downs scored her second goal with one second on the clock.
Geneseo is set to face St. Lawrence this Saturday, March 21, at 2 p.m. at RIT.
