BROCKPORT, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo senior midfielder Emily Haggerty tallied two goals and one assist to lead the Knights to an 8-5 victory over No. 19 Brockport in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play, Friday.

With the win, the Knights (14-1, 6-1 SUNYAC) clinched the second seed for the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament and a first round bye. They will face third-seeded Fredonia at 3:00 p.m. next Friday in the semifinals, hosted by top-seeded Cortland.

Brockport (10-6, 4-4 SUNYAC) opened the scoring in the sixth minute following a Geneseo turnover. The Knights responded three minutes later as senior attack Meredith Weber converted a free position shot. Weber added another tally just 26 seconds later to bring the score to 2-1 with 21:23 on the clock.

One minute later, the Eagles' Hailey Boronczyk scored on a free position shot. The score remained even at two apiece until sophomore attack Tara Basile recorded another goal at 8:38 for a lead that the Knights would maintain for the rest of the game.

The Eagles and the Knights continued to alternate goals in the second half. Basile started where she left off as she scored in the fourth minute, assisted by sophomore midfielder Liz Felix. Brockport responded at 19:01 to cut the lead, 4-3. The Knights answered back with two consecutive goals. Senior attack Caroline Buonocore scored on a free position shot at 14:03, before Felix scored two minutes later to double up the score on Brockport, 6-3.

Brockport scored at 8:24, but the Knights responded 32 seconds later on a Haggerty free position goal. Haggerty added another tally 1:30 later for the Knights' last goal. The Eagles would tally the final goal of the game at 1:46, but it wasn't enough as the Knights won their eighth-straight game.

Junior goalie Laura Passamonte collected 10 saves and three ground balls in on the afternoon.

The Knights will close out the regular season on Saturday with a game at New Paltz slated to face-off at 1:00 p.m.
