Box Score

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore forward Stephanie Clookey scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute to lead the Knights to the 1-0 victory over Western Connecticut in the second day of action at the Rams Classic, hosted by Farmindale.

As the final minutes of the match clicked away, Clookey got off  an eight-yard shot that deflected off the right post and along the goal line before rolling inside the left post for the game winner.

"We had a lot of good opportunities during the game, but we just couldn't convert," said head coach Nate Wiley. "I thought we played very well so it was nice to be able to come away with the victory. We had a lot of players earn some great game experience, which is important for the rest of the season, and coming home with a winning results makes it even better.

Knights senior goalkeeper Julia Sanger was only called upon to make one save en route to her first shutout of the season as Geneseo out-shot the Colonials, 15-4.

Geneseo returns to action opposite Nazareth on Friday (Sept. 6) in a 4:30 p.m. kickoff.
