ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's track and field team traveled to Nazareth for day one of the Empire 8 Championship Meet, and hold a commanding lead over the competition. The Knights put up 112 points on the opening day, with Brockport sitting in second at 45 points.
The Knights opened up the track events with a dominant performance in the mile, place five runners inside the top eight.
Ryan Hagan led the way with a time of 4:08.04, while
Pierce Young and
Owen Murphy finished second and third, respectively. Geneseo continued their impressive start in the 400m, sweeping the top three spots once again.
Jacob Miller took the top time at 48.41, followed closely behind by
Sam Belmont and
Arjun Ojha. In the 5000m, Geneseo took six of the eight top spots, led by
Emerson Comer at 15:06.17 and
Collin Brown at 15:10.80. The Knights capped off the track events with the team of
Logan Baker,
Dawson Wadsworth,
Owen Sweet, and
Mario Verruto finishing second in the distance medley relay.
Raymond Trottier provided the highlight for the Knights in the field events, finishing first overall in the shot put with a distance of 15.60m.
Trey Feirman added a fourth place finish in the pole vault at 4.57m.
